"Greenhouse gases". This is the name given to the gases that accumulate in the upper part of the atmosphere and prevent thermal radiation from the sun from escaping into space, raising the average temperature of the Earth (greenhouse effect). They are the product of anthropogenic activities. GHGs are: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrous dioxide (NO2), chlorofluorocarbons (ClFC), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), etc.
